UPDATE ON REALTOR COMPONENT
|
NOV 2005
|
|
|
Dear LOIS Administrator,
A great addition to the LOIS system! Announcing the
arrival of the Realtor Component. With this new
tool, you can partner with your local realtors/brokers
to access LOIS to update and maintain property
listings.
Realtors and brokers can now register online to
become subscribers to the system. For a nominal fee,
they will be able to enter buildings and sites into
LOIS.
Scroll down to read more about how the component
works and how you can help promote this new tool.

How the Realtor Component Works
How You Can Help
The realtor component is designed to allow realtors
to enter their own listings into a template. To
complete this process, you will have the ability to
accept the listings and display those in your profile. A
simple click will send the listing(s) to the live
site.
For legal reasons, you cannot edit a
realtor's listing. However, you will have the ability
to hide any listing in your view (a feature built into
the Users Settings tab). This will help ensure that no
duplicates appear on the system. Keep in mind that a
modification date will eventually be added to LOIS to
aid in keeping old listings off the site.
Realtors will have the ability to delete, archive or
update his or her own listing(s).

Promoting Realtor Component is Easy
LOIS Brochure Available
We encourage you to form a relationship with your
area realtor(s) and invite them to participate in the
system by providing them with a copy of a
promotional brochure which LOIS designed. Click on
the link below to view
a pdf version. You may print it as a handout or send
it to your local realtor in an e-mail.
The brochure outlines what the benefits are and
what the cost is. For a mere $250/year, realtors and
brokers can enter an unlimited number of listings into
the system.
For an additional $100 per year, realtor groups may
import their data into LOIS automatically, using XML
technology. Realtor groups may incur an additional
charge to set up the initial XML file.

How Realtors Can Sign Up
Realtors and Brokers Can Register Online
An online registration form is available for
realtors/brokers to use. You may forward a copy of
the registration form (see
link below) by simply doing a
copy and paste into e-mail.
Once a realtor becomes a subscriber, he or she will
have the ability to enter their listing into a template.
You will then see a link to their listing(s) in your
profile (User Settings tab) and then be able to
accept it by clicking on the "active" button. This will
push the data to the live site.
The registration form contains a field entitled "Local
Economic Development Organization Sponsor", which
the realtor will need to fill in. If a realtor is unsure of
who their ED sponsor is, that person can
contact either Lisa Franklin or Sharon
Seffrood.
To minimize possible duplications in LOIS, we
recommend that your organization decide on who
should be in charge of adding buildings - you or the
realtor(s). It's imperative to decide up front who
will enter the data.
If you would like to form an official agreement with
your local realtor, contact Sharon Seffrood who can
provide you with a template to fill out.

SitesWI Users to Be Notified
In two weeks, a notice will be sent to all existing
realtors and brokers who have been using our old
system, SitesWI. They will be notified that the old
system will be shut down and will no longer exist
after Jan 1, 2006. This may prompt realtors and
brokers to call you for assistance to become new
LOIS subscribers. If so, direct them to the brochure
and the link to register.

Advice About Rail Service
What to List in the Transportation Section
A LOIS administrator asked how one could indicate
whether rail is adjacent to a building. The field
currently reads as Rail Served, yes or no. We
recommend that you simply click on yes, if the rail is
adjacent to the building. If the rail is not adjacent to
the building, but is nearby, then type that info into
the comments box on that page. Indicate how far
away it is from the building.
