KEEPING YOU IN THE LOOP ON LOIS SPRING 2007

    Sharon Seffrood Greetings!

Spring has brought with it many new and exciting marketing initiatives. In March, LOIS partnered with Global Corporate Expansion to publish a 12-page insert to promote the system and its users. Forward Wisconsin participated by placing a half-page ad, promoting our state's buildings and sites database.

In April, I traveled to Omaha to meet with the LOIS Advisory Council. The group learned about ESRI's new offer to extend more demographic reports to organizations like ours. Two topics dominated the rest of the meeting - the modified date feature and required fields.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued help in making LOIS this state's most recognizable buildings and sites database. We are now part of a 15-state system!

As part of our initiative, I will continue to update you with information by e-mailing you this newsletter on a seasonal basis. The next issue will be called "Summer of 2007".

    Future Enhancements
    To Be Completed in 2007

The Modify Date Filter lead the discussion during the Advisory Council meeting in April. The group made a decision to first try color-coding the listings in the administration screen and then seek input from users. A notification system may come later. A completion date has not been set.

Required fields governed the second half of the discussion at the April meeting. The Council decided that it would be best to start slow and require just a few additional fields. It was suggested that we gather more input from users like yourself to determine which of the fields should be considered high priority. Please contact me if you would like to voice your opinion. Some have suggested that we require the following fields:

    • Address for mapping purposes
    • Available Square Footage
    • Sale Price or Lease Rate
    • Contact Information

Other items on the table are:

    • Document Center - An area for attachments will be set up in each main admin section, which will allow users to attach certain documents (up to 3MB) such as PDF's (realtor brochures), Excel files and Word documents.
    • Google Map Integration - Upon performing an advanced search, visitors will be able to choose between viewing a map or a list in the results window. This enhancement is nearing completion.
    • Image Section Map - LOIS will soon be adding a new map option in all sections which will essentially place a map in the 4th image position that will be clickable.
    • Excel Import Feature - Users with logon info will be able to import data from Excel into LOIS. A drag-and-drop feature will allow administrators to match their fields with/ those in LOIS.
    • Web Trends Report - LOIS will be sub- contracting with a company to build a component to display the number of visits and hits that each administrator's link registers.
    • Screen Resolution - LOIS will be reset to fit inside an 800 x 600 window, to accommodate all screen sizes. This enhancement is nearly complete.
    • Password Option - Users will be able to change their own password.
    • Streaming Video - New users will be able to receive LOIS training online.

    Global Corporate Expansion Marketing Campaign
    LOIS Places Ad

To kick off this year's marketing campaign, LOIS placed a 12-page insert in the spring issue of Global Corporate Expansion. Forward Wisconsin participated by placing a half-page ad in the insert. See link to PDF below.

The insert describes how LOIS helps more than 6,500 communities throughout 15 states become more visible to site selectors and CEO's who are thinking about relocating their business. The article highlights quotes from various LOIS administrators, talks about the realtor component and includes success stories.

If you would like to request copies of the full-color insert in PDF print format, please contact Sharon at 608-261-2501. Copies of the magazine will also be available at the WEDA Conference on May 10th.

As part of the 2007 campaign, LOIS will also be sending promotional items to major site selection consultants around the U.S., encouraging them to visit the LocationOne Web site.
