KEEPING YOU IN THE LOOP ON LOIS
|
WINTER 2008
|
|
|
Dear Jan,
It's 2008 already and time to think about what lies
ahead. But before we do, let's recap events from
last year.
In January of 2007, we welcomed Bayfield County as a
new LOIS administrator and the the Village of
Hobart in late summer. We also trained
communities in Columbia County this past
fall.
Hopefully, you've been enjoying some of the new
enhancements that LOIS created on the presentation
side such as the addition of the buildings and sites
links within the Counties and Metros tabs,
implementation of image alt tags and the inclusion of
the spectacular new Google Earth mapping feature.
On the administration side, LOIS finished building the
modify date filter and added pin points to each listing
to help you easily identify important details about
buildings or sites that may be missing. See
articles below for more information.
In late February, I will be attending the next LOIS
Advisory Council meeting in Des Moines. Please
submit any suggestions for enhancements to me by
February 19, 2008.
In early February, you may have received a new
monthly publication directly from the folks at
LocationOne called the User Link. This was in
response to other states asking for more info. I will
continue sending you this quarterly LOIS Update
newsletter, which highlights what's happening in
Wisconsin.

Modify Date Filter
NEW!
In late 2007, LOIS came out with the new Modify Date
Filter which allows you to filter a building or a site from
your view of LOIS according to a timeframe. To use
this feature, follow the steps below...
- Log in to LOIS.
- Click on the User Settings tab.
- Click on the Overview drop-down list box and
choose Filters. A window of options will
open.
- You may filter out buildings that have not been
modified within 3, 6, 9 or even 12 months.
These
filters will only affect your view of LOIS. Forward WI is
filtering buildings that have not been modified within
12 months.

Warning Signs
NEW!
You may have noticed the appearance of colored pin
points in your admin screen. These points have been
added by LOIS as a way of warning you about details
that may be missing regarding localities and listings.
Each point has a different meaning. When you
mouseover a point, a pop-up message will appear.
See a list of descriptions below.
- Yellow Pin Point - Not modified in 10 months
- Red Pin Point - Not modified in 12 months
- Purple Pin Point - No images Attached
- Orange Pin Point - Printable Flyer Fields

- Blue Pin Point - Advanced Search Fields

Enhancements
To Be Completed
- The Document
Center/Image Gallery - Coming this week, an area
for attachments will be set up in each main admin
screen, which will allow you to attach certain
documents (up to 3MB) such as PDFs (realtor
brochures), Excel files and Word documents. The
Gallery will be located in the drop-down menu in each
record.
- Excel Import Feature - Users
(administrators) will be able to import data from Excel
into LOIS. A drag- and- drop feature will allow you to
match fields in Excel with fields in LOIS. A new
completion date has been set for March 1st.
- Image Section Map - LOIS will soon be
adding a new map option in all sections which will
essentially place a map in the 4th image position.
- Web Trends Report - LOIS will be
contracting with a 3rd party to build a component to
display the number of visits and hits that each
administrator's link registers. This feature will be built
into each administrator's view. A completion date is yet
to be determined.
Other new enhancements coming soon are the
Change Password Option and Screen Resolution
Upgrade. LOIS will soon be reorganized to
fit inside an 800 x 600 window. This new feature will
also include the ability for you to customize your view
by changing the colors of the tabs across the top of
your screen.
What's on the horizon? A new look and feel of the
presentation landing page will offer a more user-
friendly environment for anyone viewing LOIS online!
Updates on this exciting new project will posted as
time goes on. The Advisory Council will guide in the
decision-making progress.
