Spectrum Brands to Consolidate Services

Spectrum Brands, the former Rayovac Corp., is leasing about 25,000 square feet in Middleton to accommodate the new positions here stemming from its acquisition of United Industries.

Spectrum spokeswoman Janet Masters said today that the number of jobs was uncertain but could number a few dozen. Some will be people transferring from United's headquarters in St. Louis and others will be new hires, Masters said.

"We really don't know the exact number" of jobs, she said, adding that the United integration will take three years, with the final integration plan not due until mid-August.

Leasing space at the Greenway Building, 1600 Aspen Commons, is a short-term solution because Spectrum's North American headquarters facility on the west side is full, Masters said.
